FAQ

1BACKGROUND
Wounds, ostomies, and continence issues are significant healthcare challenges that affect individuals across all demographics, leading to complicated health outcomes and a diminished quality of life. In the evolving landscape of healthcare, it is essential to enhance nursing practice in these areas through education, research, and the sharing of best practices. To address these crucial concerns, the Indonesian Wound, Enterostomal, and Continence Nurses Association (InWECNA) is hosting its 5th International Conference and 9th Biennial Conference under the theme "Fostering High-Quality Outcomes in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Management: Empowerment Initiatives for Professional Excellence." This conference aims to gather members of the nursing community, healthcare professionals, researchers, and other stakeholders to discuss and explore innovative strategies, methodologies, and advancements in wound, ostomy, and continence management. This conference carries profound significance as it aligns with the goals of improved patient outcomes, professional development, and the promotion of best practices among nurses specializing in wound, ostomy, and continence care. As a developing country, Indonesia is increasingly recognizing the need to prioritize this specialized field of nursing to align with global best practices. The conference will take place in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation, thus broadening the reach of our initiatives and engagement in these crucial discussions. Thus, the following proposal outlines the various aspects of the upcoming conference, covering its objectives, significance, expected outcomes, target participants, venue, and the agenda designed to foster an enriching and comprehensive experience for all attendees. The incidence of chronic wounds is on the rise due to various factors, including the growing prevalence of diabetes, obesity, an aging population, and increased surgical interventions. Ostomy procedures, while lifesaving, can pose a variety of challenges for patient well-being, and continence issues often result in social stigma, impacting mental and emotional health. Effective management of these conditions is essential for empowering patients and enhancing their quality of life. Recognizing the complexity and multidisciplinary nature of wound, ostomy, and continence care, the InWECNA seeks to provide nursing professionals with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary for delivering high-quality patient care. Through education and collaboration, the association aims to bridge the gap in healthcare delivery services, optimize outcomes, and empower patients in their self-care journey. The theme of the conference, "Fostering High-Quality Outcomes in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Management: Empowerment Initiatives for Professional Excellence" encapsulates the core mission of InWECNA. The conference will explore frameworks for professional development, improvement of clinical outcomes, and the incorporation of research-backed practices into everyday nursing care.
